I first visited the Cotswolds in the Spring of 2000 and recognized instantly that here was a countryside just perfect for my style of painting gentle rolling hills that sheltered small centuries-old market villages, winding lanes leading onto the wolds that were covered with daffodils, meandering millstreams and old waterwheels that remain as a legacy to the booming textile industry for which the area was once famous. Each morning the early mist would lift to reveal sunshine filled days where the light that bathed the countryside at that time of the year was always soft and gentle.
