I spend a portion of each year away from my studio and easel researching new subjects – a process that I find is just as important as putting paint to canvas. To do this, I like to spend a period of time in a place, usually walking for many hours a day, observing the rhythms of everyday life at different times of the day and getting to know my subject. It is then that I return to the studio with my many sketches and notes to transfer my impressions onto canvas.

There are always paintings on exhibit at my studio – I am currently working on a collection of paintings depicting scenes from my painting trip to Venice and Paris in March of last year.
